The daily run
- Pick a sport. Everyone playing that sport gets the same seven prompts today.
- Each prompt names a condition, for example "Name a player who played for Inter Milan and AC Milan".
- You have 30 seconds. Type a player and press Enter. Surnames work when they're clear, and small typos are forgiven.
- A wrong player costs you 3 seconds. A name we don't recognise costs nothing, so try another.
- Each player can only be used once per run.
Rarity tiers
A correct answer moves you between 8 and 90 yards (feet on the basketball court), depending on how rare your pick is for that prompt.
| Tier | What it means |
|---|---|
| Tap-in | The obvious answer. Almost everyone thinks of this player. |
| Solid | A good, well-known pick. |
| Rare | Most players won't think of this one. |
| Worldie | A real deep cut. |
| Unreal | One of the least-known players who fits. |
Race
Up to four players, online or against the computer, answer the same prompts live, 25 seconds each. Every correct answer moves you forward, rarer answers move you further, and the first correct answer in each round gets a bonus. A wrong guess locks you out for two seconds.
- One player per answer. Once someone names a player in a round, nobody else can use that player that round. Be quick or think deeper.
- The clutch line. Answers carry you to the line (the three-point line in basketball, the box in soccer, the red zone in football) but not past it. At the line you get a hard question with only a few valid answers. Get it right and you score. A miss, or a round without an answer, gives you a new hard question.
- Overtime. If anyone is still at the line after round 10, up to three overtime rounds are played. Anyone who hasn't scored is ranked by distance.
Auction Draft
Two managers start with $25. A random player goes up for auction, and the highest bid when the clock runs out buys him. Each team needs five players, so save money for the last spots. When both teams are full, the match is simulated, with goals, injuries, cards and a full box score at the end.
Ranking points
| What | Points |
|---|---|
| Correct answer | 10 |
| Rarity bonus | up to +60 |
| Speed bonus | up to +15 |
| Finishing the daily run | +25 |
| Race finish: 1st / 2nd / 3rd / 4th | 100 / 60 / 35 / 15 |
| Auction match: win / loss | 80 / 15 |
Games against the computer earn half. Practice runs don't score. Each sport has its own leaderboard, and the Overall board adds all three together. Leaderboards list players with a free account; guests can play but aren't ranked.
Ranks and badges
Every ranking point you earn, across all three sports, counts towards your rank. There are 30 ranks in six tiers, from Rookie to The GOAT, and each tier has its own badge, shown next to your name in races and on the leaderboards.
| Tier | Ranks |
|---|---|
| Bronze | Rookie, Walk-On, Practice Squad, Bench Warmer, Garbage Time Hero |
| Silver | Role Player, Sixth Man, Rotation Regular, Starter, Fan Favorite |
| Gold | Team Captain, Clutch Performer, All-Conference, All-Star, All-Star Starter |
| Platinum | All-League, All-Pro, Franchise Player, MVP Candidate, MVP |
| Diamond | Finals MVP, Champion, Back-to-Back Champion, Dynasty, Legend |
| Legendary | Hall of Famer, Icon, Immortal, GOAT Debate, The GOAT |
Tips
- Think backups and journeymen, not captains. The player who spent two seasons at both clubs is worth far more than the legend.
- Older eras are full of deep cuts.
- Answer fast in races: the first correct answer each round gets a bonus.
